Russell C. Schmidt founded the business in 1953. His son David joined the business in 1971. David quickly became an integral part of the business, serving the community with pride and honor as taught from childhood by his father. Recently, David proudly welcomed his son, Dennis (Russell’s grandson) to the business.

Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home, Inc, located in beautiful Erie, Pennsylvania was originally founded in 1953.

The funeral home has experienced a number of renovations and improvements over the years, growing and changing with the needs of our community and the families we serve.

We have evolved from a single corner lot to our current spacious and comfortable funeral home conveniently located at 5000 Wattsburg Road in Erie, Pennsylvania. We are just 2 miles north of I-90, Exit 29, on Route 8, offering easy access to out-of-town visitors.

Completed in 2005, our funeral facility offers three visitation parlors with plenty of parking to accommodate the families we serve. Our facility is state-of-the-art and handicapped accessible.
